School-led Projects
Collaboration between our nine local primary schools is central to the work of The Coastal Collective and we work closely with teachers and school leaders.
By bringing staff together to share expertise, reflect on practice and respond to local need, we strengthen provision and improve outcomes for children and young people across our community.
Each term, we host a SEND cluster meeting that brings together the SENCos from each school. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to share good practice, collaborate on common priorities and work together to strengthen support for pupils with additional needs. We invite other professionals, including speech and language therapists and educational psychologists, to contribute specialist insight and guidance.
To further strengthen SEND provision, we have commissioned an independent SEND adviser and teacher who works closely with each of the nine primary schools. This role supports strategic leadership, helps schools review and develop provision, and enables each school to respond effectively to the needs of its pupils. In addition, we employ an educational psychologist who provides services, advice and support across all nine schools.
We are committed to supporting the funding of curriculum resources that can be used across our schools, including MyHappyMind and the Equals Curriculum. These resources support wellbeing, personal development and access to learning for children with a wide range of needs.
Our most recent and exciting project is supporting all nine primary schools to achieve EYFS Communication Friendly Settings Status. Through this two-year programme, each school will work towards CFS Status in their EYFS departments. Each school will have two accredited Lead Communication Practitioners, helping to embed high-quality communication practice across the whole school community.
