Aims and Objectives

The objects of the CIO are:
The Coastal Collective Boats

1.

to advance education for the public benefit in Lytham St. Annes and the surrounding FY8 postcode area by (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing): (a) providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education of pupils in schools; (b) the provision of practical and emotional support to those in education and their families;

The Coastal Collective Huts

2.

the relief of those in need in Lytham St. Annes and the surrounding FY8 postcode area because of youth, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) the provision of counselling and support to families; and

The Coastal Collective Bucket

the prevention or relief of poverty in Lytham St. Annes and the surrounding FY8 postcode area by (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) providing support to individuals and families in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

Aims and Objectives
The organisation will provide a range of support to a cluster of schools operating in Lytham St Annes. The schools (nine primary schools and two secondary schools) serve the Lytham St Annes district and approximately 5,220 children are educated at these schools. The Headteachers have historically worked very closely and have identified key issues which are common throughout the area. Educational progress is increasingly difficult to achieve with an ever-growing number of pupils at the schools.
For a significant number of children, their long- term educational opportunities are already limited by the time they leave primary school. This is despite the best efforts of staff and governors at all schools. The social, emotional and mental health needs of the children and the negative impact of Covid since March 2020 have impacted severely upon educational progress and general childhood development. Alongside this there are increasing numbers of children living in homes across Lytham St Annes with high socio-economic deprivation indicators.
Schools in Lytham St Annes are in need of the services of Educational Psychology services, behavioural support, and counselling on an increasing basis to support children’s education, not just for the child involved but for the class, by endeavouring to limit the disruption caused by specific children’s educational needs. The organisation has secured funding from the Lytham Schools Foundation to develop a support service to the schools in Lytham St Annes which will result in the provisions of a range of expert support in the form of an Educational Psychologist, Behavioural Support Specialists, Educational Mental Health Practitioners, Family Link Workers and a Speech Therapist. These specialists, employed by the new organisation, will work with all of the schools across Lytham St Annes.
